U.S. president Barack Obama is close to deciding not to put pressure on Israel over a delay in peace negotiations with the Palestinians before the end of his term in office, the Associated Press reported on Friday, citing sources.

During the past year, Obama weighed whether to give a speech describing his vision of a potential peace accord, or to support a United Nations resolution which details the parameters of the treaty. He is unlikely to approve either of the options so close to an administration transition, and could opt for a more limited solution, one that would not lay out the framework for the future peace deal, the sources said.
