Attacker killed in Paris after policeman dies in shooting
Security authorities in France's capital warned on Thursday of an ongoing operation in the area of Champs Elysees after shots were fired. At the time, presidential candidates were presenting their agendas on national television. Domestic media quoted an unnamed source from the police prefecture saying an officer died and that another one was wounded, while that a male shooter was killed. The avenue was blocked.
The police reportedly said the event was likely a terrorist attack. There may have been more than one assailant. BFMTV said a person was hurt in crossfire. Citizens were asked to avoid the area due to the ongoing operation. The incident happened near the Franklin D. Roosevelt metro station.
