Boris Johnson to visit Moscow next week
United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is set to visit Moscow next week, where he will meet with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Russian news agency TASS reported on Tuesday.
Flying out to Moscow at Lavrov’s invitation, Johnson will be the first UK foreign secretary to make an official visit to the country in five years.
The two officials are expected to discuss Russia-UK relations and a number of pressing international issues, including Syria and Ukraine, TASS learnt from an unnamed diplomatic source.
Since taking office, Johnson has accused Russia of prolonging the war in Syria and targeting civilians, urged protests outside the Russian Embassy in London, but refused calls from British MPs for the UK to advocate the introduction of a no-fly zone over Aleppo.
