Erdogan accuses Angela Merkel of 'Nazi measures'
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused German Chancellor Angela Merkel of employing "Nazi measures" in response to authorities banning Turkish politicians from campaigning in Germany, according to AFP.
In a televised speech, Erdogan condemned the decision to block campaigning in Germany for next month’s referendum, where some 1.4 million eligible voters reside. The Turkish president is pushing for a 'Yes' vote in the referendum that could turn the country from a parliamentary system to an executive presidency.
Previously he said that the "spirit of fascism" was present in Europe, and has threatened the Netherlands with sanctions after Dutch authorities refused as well to allow campaign rallies to take place in the country.
