EU construction output down 1.3% in August
Seasonally adjusted production in construction in the European Union decreased by 1.3% in August compared to July’s 0.3% growth. Construction output in the euro area declined 0.9%, Eurostat reported on Wednesday. Construction output in the euro area increased 1.5% in the previous month.
Most of the 1.3% monthly decline in the whole EU is put down to civil engineering falling 1.5% and building construction declining 1.2%.
Year on year, production in construction was up 0.9% in the Eurozone in August, by it declined 0.5% in the entire EU, the bloc’s statistical office said. In the euro area civil engineering and building construction rose 1.5% and 0.4%, respectively in August compared to the same month a year ago. However, in the entire EU civil engineering dropped 4.5% compared to a year ago.
