Europe closes mixed ahead of French election
Markets in Europe closed mixed on Friday as investors awaited the first round of the presidential election in France scheduled for Sunday and digested news of yesterday's terror attack in Paris.
The CAC 40 declined 0.37%. Danone led the losses as its shares slid 2.45%.
The DAX gained 0.18%. The best performer was Deutsche Bank, climbing 1.50%, followed by Lufthansa, up 1.26%.
The FTSE 100 edged down 0.06%. Mining companies traded in the red, with Anglo American suffering the largest losses, shedding 1.80%.
The euro decreased 0.18% against the dollar to go for 1.0698 at 5:41 pm CET and it fell 0.40% compared to the yen to change hands for 116.698 at 5:42 pm CET. The pound was down 0.08% against the euro to sell for 1.1949 at 5:43 pm CET.
