Eurozone PMI at 6-year high in April
The economic expansion of the euro area hit the highest level in the past six years in April, IHS Markit reported on Friday. Flash Eurozone PMI composite output index stood at 56.7 versus 56.4 in March. The preliminary estimates of manufacturing and services purchasing managers' indexes both edged up in April month on month and stood at 56.8 and 56.2, respectively.
According to the report, job creation increased to almost a ten-year high, but "price pressures remained among the strongest seen over the past six years."
Observed by countries, growth of business activity recorded in France at the highest level since May 2011 was offset by a modest growth in Germany. In other parts of the euro area output growth was strongest since July 2007.
