IFOP: Support for Macron rises as first round looms
Mirroring findings from several other surveys among French voters, Paris Match said on Thursday that Emmanuel Macron's rating improved for both rounds of the presidential election. The results of IFOP's daily poll put his backing in a setting against ten other candidates at 24%, half a percentage point higher than yesterday, while far-right contestant Marine Le Pen remained second-ranked with support flat at 22.5%. The centrist also added 0.5 points in a potential runoff against his main rival, landing at 61% to 39% of respondents who picked between the two.
The first round will be held on April 23. Republican former Prime Minister Francois Fillon and left-wing candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon came in unchanged at 19.5% and 18.5%, respectively.
