Lyft rolls out 'no surprises' preview of fare cost
Customers of Uber's ride-hailing competitor Lyft Inc. got the possibility to check the charges for their intended ride before booking. The company said on Tuesday that the feature includes fees, taxes, tolls, discounts and the so-called Prime Time cost. Larger peer Uber rolled out its own 'upfront fare' calculator in June. Lyft Line riders already had the preview available, while the startup based in San Francisco now introduced the function for users in select cities in the United States.
The transport network application's operator noted the final cost still depends on whether the ride can be completed on the usual time and preset route.
