Macron, Fillon give suggestions on immigration
Centrist presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron said during debate on Monday France should be firm, but also fair when it comes to immigration as it shouldn’t be forgotten that people who ask for asylum are usually running away from brutal regime. He pointed out that the core of the problem is illegal immigration and, as a solution, he suggested policy of sending back people who do not fulfill conditions for asylum.
On the other hand, Francois Fillon stated that immigrants are mostly trying to escape poverty and not brutal regime. According to him, this is why quotas should be introduced for economic migrants. "It is a fundamental question of control," Fillon concluded.
