Markets in Europe close significantly higher
European stocks ended Tuesday's trade with significant gains after earnings announcements from Goldman Sachs, Johnson&Johnson and BlackRock. The pound rose back above $1.23 following a reported rise in U.K. inflation.
The FTSE 100 ascended 0.69%. The best performers were Next whose shares soared 5.13% and EasyJet which climbed 5.03%.
The DAX rose 1.21% with Lufthansa, up 3.28%, and RWE, 3.07%, in the green leading the gains.
The CAC 40 jumped 1.31% at market close.
Sterling grew 1.09% compared to the dollar to sell for 1.2317 at 5:41 p.m. CET. The British currency gained 1.14% against the euro to go for 1.1202 at 5:41 p.m. CET and was up 0.95% against the yen to change hands for 127.768 at 5:42 p.m. CET.
