Moscovici: UK will remain strategic partner of EU
Even after Brexit, the United Kingdom will be a strategic partner of the European Union, Economic and Financial Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said in Brussels on Tuesday. However, the EU official pointed out that it “cannot be the same to be a member of the club” and not to be one.
Moscovici pointed out that the EU is prepared to negotiate, including all of its teams and positions.
Asked if it would take longer than the 2 years the Lisbon Treaty foresees as the negotiations period, Moscovici stated it is too early to make predictions about negotiations that haven’t even started.
