Tillerson says Putin is not war criminal
Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, told Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday that he doesn’t consider Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal.
As Senator Marco Rubio was trying to make the former Exxon CEO to say Putin is responsible for hacking that happened during the US presidential campaign, all Tillerson said was: “I think that’s a fair assumption.”
On the topic of sanctions, apart from saying that they are a “powerful tool,” he stated that once sanctions are imposed, they will automatically damage American business.
The testimony was interrupted by the protesters who yelled: “Don’t let Exxon run the State Department.”
