Rouhani wins re-election in Iran presidential race

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani won re-election on Saturday, defeating conservative Ebrahim Raisi with 57% of the votes. He will serve as the country’s president for another four year term.

Rouhani said his victory showed unity within Iran and vowed to remain loyal to his supporters in fulfilling his presidential duties, as well as cooperate with the international community.

Earlier in the week, Iran’s Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri Kouhshahi quit the race and called on voters to support the incumbent moderate president.
