Suspect in Borussia Dortmund bus attack arrested
Prosecutors in Germany said on Friday that a 28-year old German-Russian citizen was arrested on suspicion of being responsible for the bomb attack near a bus carrying members of the Borussia Dortmund soccer team.
Although investigators initially found notes at the scene that attributed the attack to supporters of the Islamic state, authorities doubted its authenticity. The three identical letters written in German stated the incident was carried out “in the name of Allah,” however, a report by the investigators suggested it was most likely a false lead. It is now considered the suspect acted out of financial reasons.
The triple blast injured the team’s defender, Marc Bartra, while the team was heading to a Champions League match against Monaco in their home town of Dortmund.
