Terna S.p.A is a leading electricity transmission grid operator in Europe. The Group’s company structure comprises the holding company, Terna S.p.A., and its two operating subsidiaries: Terna Rete Italia and Terna Plus. The service which Terna provides in Italy is crucial to the operation of the entire electricity system and for guaranteeing the supply of electricity to all, companies and private individuals alike. The Company is responsible for grid planning, development and maintenance, joining competence, technology and innovation in line with the international best practices. Through its subsidiary, Terna Rete Italia, it safely manages the National Transmission Grid with over 70,000 km of HV electricity lines and has the responsibility, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, of electricity transmission and dispatching, safely managing the balance between electricity demand and supply in Italy. Through its subsidiary, Terna Plus, it is responsible for developing new business, both in Italy and abroad, aiming at grasping business opportunities deriving from technological discontinuities and from trends characterizing the energy sector such as: renewables growth, developing Smart Grids, energy efficiency.
