Trump: Paris shooting may 'help' Le Pen in election
United States President told the Associated Press on Friday he believes the latest terrorist attack in France, which resulted in the death of one policeman, may “help” far-right National Front’s candidate Marine Le Pen in Sunday’s presidential election.
Although he didn’t explicitly endorse Le Pen, Trump claimed she is “strongest on borders, and she's the strongest on what's been going on in France.”
Earlier today, the president tweeted Thursday’s attack will “have a big effect on presidential election” in France.
On Thursday, former US President Barack Obama refused to formally endorse centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron, but he talked to him on the phone and wished him “good luck” in the upcoming election.
