Trump tells young 'dreamer' immigrants not to worry
United States President Donald Trump said in an interview with the Associated Press on Friday that young immigrants known as “dreamers” will not be affected by his immigration policies and can “rest easy.”
“We are after the criminals,” Trump claimed. He added he is not targeting the “dreamers.”
The expression dreamers refers to young undocumented immigrants who arrived to the US as children and where raised and educated in the country and often identify as Americans.
Throughout his presidential campaign and even after he entered the White House, Trump has vowed to get "the bad people" such as killers and rapists out of the US. Earlier this month, the president stated he is "letting" Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly run the immigration policy. Kelly has noted he doesn't intend to conduct mass immigration or use military force to get illegal immigrants out of the country.
