Trump to dine with Romney on Tuesday
United States President-elect Donald Trump is set to have a private dinner with Republican Mitt Romney tomorrow, the sources told POLITICO on Monday. According to the report, the two Grand Old Party (GOP) members will meet once more to discuss the possibility of Romney becoming the new secretary of state.
Romney’s candidacy came under scrutiny among some members of the Trump team due to former Massachusetts governor’s extensive criticism of Trump in the past. The real estate mogul is reportedly also considering the former Mayor of the New York City Rudy Giuliani.
The news comes after Trump announced over Twitter that he was “very impressed” with former CIA Director and retired Army General David Petraeus after their joint meeting earlier today. Petraeus is also allegedly being considered for the same role in the Trump administration as it was revealed that the two extensively discussed U.S. foreign affairs.
