U.S. stocks higher on closing bell
Equity indexes on Wall Street ended the session higher on Tuesday amid falling oil prices and as investors digested today's economic data releases.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 0.13% in the green at a fresh all-time high of 19,121.6 points on gains in health sector.
The Nasdaq 100 settled 0.33% higher. Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. jumped 5.2% on closing after news emerged that GAM Holding AG, an independent asset management group, acquired 38,846 shares of the company.
The S&P 500 added 0.13% for the day.
The U.S. dollar index slid 0.22% to 100.96 at 10:11 p.m. CET. In the fixed income market, the yield on 10-year Treasuries declined to 2.2981%, while the yield on two-year debt eased to 1.095% at 10:07 p.m. CET. The yield on 30-year bonds slowed ton 2.9531% at the same time.
