US initial jobless claims rise by 10,000 to 244,000
U.S. initial jobless claims for the week ending April 15 increased by 10,000 to 244,000 from the previous week’s unrevised level of 234,000, the US Department of Labor reported on Thursday.
Insured unemployment rate for the week ending April 8 edged down 0.1 percentage points to 1.4% from the previous week’s unrevised rate. Insured unemployment during the week ending April 8 dropped by 49,000 to 1,979,000 from the previous week’s unrevised level.
The four-week moving average fell by 2,000 to 2,023,500.
