Wall Street closes higher on strong earnings
Markets in the United States finished a day of trading in the green on Tuesday as health care led the main gains while investment incentives remained high on strong earnings reports despite mixed inflation data earlier today. Netflix jumped almost 20% at the close after it reported better-than-expected results for the third quarter of 2016. Goldman Sachs continued a streak of earnings that were beyond expectations in the banking industry while Johnsons and Johnsons also surprised the market watchers by beating the estimates.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index closed 0.42% higher, adding 100 points, mostly led by the health care sector.
The S&P 500 rose 0.62% at the close while the health care and materials contributed the biggest gains.
The Nasdaq 100 finished 0.91% in the green, gaining almost 57 points.
