Wall Street opens flat ahead of French election
US stocks opened flat on Friday as investors awaited French presidential election which is due on Sunday and digested the latest earnings releases. Among Nasdaq 100 components, Mattel dropped almost 8% at 3:36 pm CET as the company reported yesterday its first quarter results that missed expectations. Maxim Integrated followed with a drop of 4% after announcing profit of $159.79 million for its third quarter.
Dow constituent Visa gained 1.46% at 3:35 pm CET after reporting earnings per share of $0.18 in the second quarter.
The euro fell 0.11% against the dollar, buying 1.0705 at 3:44 pm CET. At the same time, the greenback decreased 0.17% against the yen, changing hands for 109.132.
