5 killed in California wildfires

Five people have lost their lives in the wildfires ravaging California while tens of thousands have been evacuated, officials reported. The firemen are fighting to subdue the three separate fires, which are fueled by strong winds and the extreme dryness.

The Camp Fire in the northern part of California has destroyed the town of Paradise and it is there that the victims have died when the fire engulfed their vehicles, Butte County Sheriff's Department stated.

Acting Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in southern California due to the Hill and Woolsey Fires. The twin wildfires near Los Angeles and Ventura Counties have forced more than 100,00 people to evacuate.
