50 killed, 500 wounded in train derailment in India

Two trains derailed on Friday in India, killing at least 50 people and injuring several hundred, local media reported.

According to different media reports and official sources, about 500 people were injured and taken to hospitals following the accident. The crash site was about 1,600 kilometers northwest of New Delhi, and the causes are still under investigation.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Railways, Amitabh Sharma, stated that 10 to 12 coaches were derailed.
