70 anti-lockdown UK MPs demand proof it's working

A group on 70 British MPs opposing the imposed coronavirus lockdowns across the country issued a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday, demanding proof that the business closures are indeed saving lives.

The group, consisting of only the ruling Tories, told the prime minister they will not back the government's tiered restriction plans in December unless they see a "full cost-benefit analysis." The MPs also wrote that they will not support prolonging the measures in case Downing Street is unable to show that the lockdowns "are saving more lives than they cost."

The Tories went on to warn Johnson that even though COVID-19 is a deadly illness, "equal regard" but be given to other issues such as cancer, heart disease, dementia, mental health and "all the health implications of poverty and falling GDP."
