AMD officially launches new Instinct MI300 chip

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) officially launched its new Instinct MI300 chip on Wednesday during the Advancing AI event.

According to AMD's CEO Su Lisa, the Instinct MI300 is set to be "the highest performance accelerator in the world for generative AI," challenging NVIDIA's H100.

The highly anticipated chip has 150 billion transistors, 128 HBM3 channels, fourth-generation Infinity Fabric, and eight CDNA 3 GPU chiplets. Based on AMD's previous estimates, MI300 is expected to generate $2 billion in sales by 2024.
