Biden wins primaries in Kentucky, New York

Former United States Vice President Joe Biden won the Democratic presidential primary elections held in Kentucky and New York on Tuesday.

The results were declared shortly after the polls closed, and with half of the precincts reporting the former vice-president received 56.8% of the votes in Kentucky, ahead of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders who got 11.5% of the Democratic support, according to the Associated Press News agency. Meanwhile, in New York, Biden topped Sanders by 46.7 percentage points with 5% of the votes reported.

During the Tuesday's primaries, 328 delegates were up for grabs, however, the former vice-president has already secured the 1,991 delegates needed to become the next presidential nominee for the Democratic party.
