Costa Coffee to cut 1,650 jobs amid financial crisis

Costa Coffee announced on Thursday it will cut up to 1,650 jobs in its attempt to weather the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

"The ongoing impact of COVID-19 remains challenging for Costa Coffee and has required the business to make difficult decisions to ensure that as many jobs as possible are protected long-term," the company stated. It added it will also shelve the role of assistant store manager in its shops across the United Kingdom.

Costa Coffee has been a subsidiary Coca-Cola since 2019 when the beverage giant acquired it for £3.9 billion.
