Eurozone's industrial output up 12.4% in May

Seasonally adjusted industrial production in the Eurozone grew 12.4% in May compared to the previous month, the European Union's statistical office Eurostat said in a report published on Tuesday. For the whole bloc, industrial output went up by 11.4% on a monthly basis in May.

On an annual basis, the euro area's industrial production slumped 20.9% in May, while it plunged 20.5% year-over-year in the whole European Union over the same period.

Production of durable consumer goods soared 54.2% and capital goods climbed 25.4% in the euro area, while in the EU the figures jumped 47.7% and 24.8%, respectively. The Eurozone's production of intermediate goods gained 10% on a monthly basis in May, while non-durable consumer goods added 2.8% and energy production increased by 2.3%. In the whole bloc, the intermediate goods marked a growth of 8.7%, non-durable consumer goods were up by 1.8% and energy strengthened 2.5%.
