Labor cost in Eurozone up by 4.2% QoQ in Q2

Eurozone hourly labor cost increased by 4.2% in the second quarter of 2019 compared to the previous three months, the European Union's statistical office Eurostat said in its release published on Tuesday. In the whole EU, the figure rose by 4.1%.

In the euro area, the cost of wages and salaries was 5.2% higher and the non-wage component of the figure yearly grew 0.8% in the second quarter. In EU-27, hourly wages and salaries cost increased by 5.3%, while the non-wage component rose by 0.1% in the second three-month period of 2020.

The highest increases in labor costs were registered in Slovakia (7.8%), Estonia (7.7%) and Latvia (7.4%).
