Russia says working on 47 coronavirus vaccines

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova (pictured middle) told the Federation Council on Wednesday that 47 vaccines are currently being produced in the country on 14 platforms and that 3.1 billion rubles ($43 million) have been invested in the vaccine development.

"We do expect that some of them will produce tangible results," Golikova added. Director of Russia’s Gamaleya Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Gintsburg announced previously that a vaccine could be registered in Russia in August after a month-long trial.

Earlier today, a World Health Organization (WHO) representative in Russia said the situation at the country was "at the stage of stabilization." Russia currently has a total of 308,705 registered cases, making it the most affected country after the United States.
