US consumer prices rise by 0.6% in June

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June in the United States increased by 0.6% compared to the same period last year, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics' (BLS) report revealed on Tuesday.

The index for all items, apart from food and energy, went up by 0.2% in June, marking its first monthly increase since February.

The CPI gained 0.6% for the period of the past 12 months ending in June. The index for all items except food and energy rose by 1.2%. The food index grew by 4.5% in 12 rolling months to June, while the energy index declined by 12.6% over the same period despite increasing on a monthly basis in June.
