Airbus posts 24% increase in revenue to €12.55B in Q1

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus SA reported on Tuesday that its revenue in the first quarter of 2019 increased 24% year-on-year, up to €12.55 billion. In the same timeframe, its estimated earnings per share plummeted by 86%, down to €0.05 compared to the €0.37 in the comparable period of 2018.

These results reflect the reduction of the company's net income by the same 86%, down to €40 million from the €283 million in Q1 of 2018. The aerospace giant's adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) in the first quarter of 2019 rose to €549 million, while the consolidated and reported EBIT stood at €181 million. Gross commercial aircraft orders totaled 62, or 8.8% lower than the Q1 of 2018.

"The commercial aircraft market remains robust and we continue to see good prospects in the helicopters and defense and space businesses. The new management team is in place and focused on delivering on our commitments," Airbus Chief Executive Officer Guillaume Faury said, adding that the firm maintained its guidance for the full year.
