Airbus posts Q1 revenue at €10.5B, down 2%

Airbus SE reported on Thursday its revenue for the first fiscal quarter at €10.5 billion, 2% lower on a yearly basis and in line with expectations. Net income came to €362 million, up from a loss of €481 million, while earnings per share (EPS) climbed to €0.46 from a loss per share of €0.61 in the first quarter of 2020. The airline manufacturer reported its gross commercial aircraft orders totaled 39, but after cancellations, net commercial aircraft orders were -61, with the order backlog at 6,998 aircraft on March 31.

"The good Q1 results mainly reflect our commercial aircraft delivery performance, cost and cash containment, progress with the restructuring plan as well as positive contributions from our helicopter and defense and space activities," said Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury. "The first quarter shows that the crisis is not yet over for our industry, and that the market remains uncertain. We are investing in innovation and in the transformation of our company to deliver on our long-term ambitions across the portfolio."
