Airbus revenue up 11% YoY, to €23.3B in Q4

Airbus SA said on Thursday its revenue for the fourth quarter of 2018 stood at €23.3 billion, marking an increase of 11% compared to the same three-month period last year. The aerospace giant said its quarterly net income amounted to €1.6 billion, up 66% on an annual basis. Airbus said its quarterly earnings per share (EPS) reached a figure of €2.06, 66% more annually.

The company announced an annual revenue of €63.7 billion and a net income of €3.05 billion. The figures marked an annual growth of 8% and 29%, respectively. Airbus EPS for the full fiscal 2018 amounted to €3.94, 29% higher compared to 2017. The company said it is canceling production of its A380 double-decker commercial aircraft in 2021.

"With an order backlog of around 7,600 aircraft, we intend to ramp-up aircraft production even further. However, due to the lack of airline demand we have to wind down production of the A380. This is largely reflected in the 2018 numbers," chief executive officer Tom Enders stated.
