Alibaba reports Q4 revenue at $16.14B, up 22% YoY

Alibaba Group announced on Friday its revenue in the final quarter of 2020 rose 22% on a yearly basis to $16.14 billion. Income from operations was down 19% in the same period to $1.01 billion. Net income dropped 99% to $49 million or $0.02 per share, mainly due to net loss in investment income.

For the full fiscal year ended March 31, revenue was up 35% to $71.99 billion, while income from operations increased 60% to $12.91 billion. Net income grew 42% per annum to $19.82 billion or $.099 per share.

Annual active consumers on China retail marketplaces reached 726 million, a 15 million increase compared to last quarter. Mobile MAUs on the China retail marketplaces reached 846 million.

"Our overall business continued to experience strong growth, with a total annual active consumer base of 960 million globally, despite concluding the fiscal year with a quarter impacted by the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic," chief executive Daniel Zhang stated.
