American Airlines' revenue jumps 40% to $13.2B in Q4

American Airlines Inc. released its earnings report for the fourth quarter of 2022 on Thursday, announcing that its revenue reached $13.2 billion, increasing by 40% compared to the corresponding quarter a year ago. The airlines' net income reached $803 million in the final quarter as opposed to registered net loss a year ago. For the three months ending on December 31, the diluted earnings per share was $1.14.

American Airlines' total revenue for the year 2022 came to $48.9 billion, an increase of 64% over the full-year revenue in 2021. The registered net income for the entire fiscal year amounted to $127 million, shrinking from the previously recorded net loss the year before, with the diluted earnings per share coming in at $0.19.

"The American Airlines team has produced outstanding results over the past year," CEO Robert Isom said. The company's share rose 1.48% after the release of the financial results.
