American Express Q4 revenue up 30% YoY at $12.1B

The American Express Co. stated on Tuesday that its fourth-quarter revenue reached $12.1 billion, increasing 30% when compared to the same period last year. Its diluted earnings per share improved from $1.76 to $2.18, marking a 24% gain. The company's net income jumped to $1.72 billion, rising 20%.

Annually, the revenue was $42,380, while net income came to $8,060 with diluted earnings per share of $10.02.

"Based on our new growth plan and the benefits we anticipate from an improving macro environment, we expect to generate elevated levels of revenue growth in 2022 in the range of 18 to 20 percent and earnings per share of $9.25 to $9.65. Longer term, as the economy reaches a steady state, our aspiration is to achieve revenue growth in excess of 10 percent and EPS growth in the mid-teens", said Stephen J. Squeri, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

Shares of the company increased 2.88% in the premarket trade following the release of the report.
