Eurozone's trade deficit down to €34.4B in Sept.

The international trade deficit in goods in the Eurozone went down in September to €34.4 billion from the record of €50.9 billion registered in August, the European Commission's statistical office Eurostat revealed in its report published on Tuesday. In the same month in 2021, the euro area observed a surplus of €6.7 billion.

Exports of goods from the Eurozone rose by 23.6% on an annual level to reach €259.6 billion. Meanwhile, imports advanced by 44.5% compared to September 2021, coming in at €294.0 billion. Trade within the euro area rose by 27.3% year-on-year to hit €247.6 billion.

In the European Union, the trade deficit stood at €25.8 billion, going up from the one of negative €0.3 billion registered in September 2021. Exports gained 24.0% on an annual basis to garner €232.0 billion. Imports went up by 48.2% to €277.8 billion. Within the bloc, trade grew by 26.1% compared to the same month in 2021 to reach €383.0 billion.
