Apple aims at April or May to launch video service - report

Apple Inc. is planning the launch of its new video streaming service for April or early May, CNBC reported on Wednesday citing people familiar with the matter.

Netflix and Hulu, which have their own established video streaming platforms, will not be a part of Apple's "Channels" project, the sources said, while HBO's participation is still up in the air. Similarly to Amazon's Prime Video Channels, the service will allow customers to sign up for existing video streaming products. Owners of an Apple device will have access to original content for free, according to the report.

Among platforms to be included are Starz, Showtime and Viacom's content, as well as Oprah Winfrey's and Steven Spielberg's TV shows and films.
