Apple deletes unlicensed games from China App Store

Chinese provider of online data services Qimai reported on Saturday that Apple Inc deleted 29,800 apps and over 26,000 games from its Chinese app store due to a restraint Chinese government put on unlicensed games.

Todd Kuhn, marketing manager for AppIe China stated that this move "affects small- and mid-sized developers’ incomes the most, but due to the difficulties of acquiring a business license, it’s devastating to the whole iOS game industry in China."

The takedown initiative comes at a time when the gaming sector is rising in China, the industry's largest market as more people are staying indoors due to the coronavirus outbreak.
