Apple doesn't want to be Android, defends App Store

In a court trial against Epic Games, the creator of the "Fortnight" game, Apple's lawyer Karen Dunn defended the rules of the App Store and stated that the company doesn't want to be an Android and neither do their customers. "They want the choice", she said.

Epic Games accused Apple of purposely locking in its customers and demanded that iPhone software allows apps to install their own payment, bypassing Apple's customary 30% fee on digital goods.

Apple argued that it created the App Store and therefore gets to create the rules, which are designed to guarantee high-quality standards and secure services, provided by the apps.
