Apple unveils lockdown mode against state-backed hacking

Apple announced on Wednesday that the company is working on a new "lockdown" option to reduce the risks of possible state-sponsored hacking attacks targeted at politicians and activists' devices.

The so-called Lockdown Mode will also turn off some iPhone features, such as those functions related to JavaScript on the Safari browser, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., and increase the device security in return.

The second most valuable company in the world plans to offer $2 million to those who manage to find security flaws in the new option. The company started addressing this security issue after it realized its latest iPhones could be hacked even if the victim did not click on any link.
