Asia mostly higher after PBOC's decision

Shares on the major stock market indexes in the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly above the flatline after the People's Bank of China (PBOC) announced that it would keep the interest rates at the same level.

The traders also monitored the developments in the United States, where President-elect Joe Biden is to be inaugurated later in the day.

The Nikkei 225 ended the trading session down by 0.38%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.73% at 7:10 am CET. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite advanced 0.32% at 6:55 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite added 1.16% at the same time. South Korea's Kospi moved up 0.56% at 7:11 am CET, with the S&P/ASX increasing 0.41% at the closing bell in Australia.

The dollar slid 0.14% against the yen, going for 103.7320 at 7:13 am CET.
