Asia-Pacific trades lower, Japan's Nikkei dips over 200 pts

Major Asia-Pacific markets traded lower on Friday amid negative global sentiment and growing concerns about a possible economic recession.

On the political front, earlier, the Japanese government said it was imposing further sanctions on Russia after Moscow staged referendums in four occupied territories in Ukraine and subsequently integrated them into Russia despite opposition from the international community.

Japan's Nikkei 225 went down by 0.75% or 204 points, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.55% at 7:11 am CET. South Korea's Kospi decreased by 0.23% a minute later. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 230 points or 1.27% at 7:13 am CET. Stock markets in mainland China remain closed.

The dollar went down by 0.10% compared to the Japanese yen at 7:15 am CET, trading for ¥144.99750.
