Asia-Pacific trades lower on data, amid earnings

Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region fell below the flatline in the afternoon trading on Wednesday after data on Japan's producer prices revealed a jump, going above the market forecasts, while the inflation in China rose, going above 2% on an annual basis.

Earlier, investors received a quarterly earnings report from Lenovo, with Toshiba and Honda yet to publish their reports.

The Nikkei 225 fell by 0.68% at 7:31 am CET. At the same time, South Korea's Kospi lost 0.90%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng plunged by 2.19%. A minute later and the Australian S&P/ASX 200 was down by 0.32%. The Shenzhen Composite dipped by 0.37% at 7:19 am CET, while the Shanghai Composite dropped by 0.50% minutes later.

The American dollar was 0.12% lower against the Japanese yen, to change hands to ¥134.98250 at 7:37 am CET.
