Asia trades lower with data in focus

Major Asia-Pacific stock exchanges traded lower on Tuesday after Australia's central bank decided to keep the interest rate steady. On the data front, service sector activity in China expanded, while it slowed in Japan. In addition, Tokyo's consumer inflation eased to 2.6%.

At 7:13 am CET, Hong Kong's Hang Seng and South Korea’s Kospi Composite decreased by 1.63% and 0.79% simultaneously. The Shanghai Composite fell 0.83% at 7:14 am CET. The Shenzhen Composite lost 1.13% at 7:17 am CET.

At the close, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.89%. Japan's Nikkei 225 declined 1.37%. At 7:18 am CET, the dollar traded 0.28% below the yen, selling for 146.8750.
