Asia trades mixed with China in spotlight

Major stock exchanges in the Asia-Pacific region traded mixed on Friday as investors analyzed the previous day's statements by officials from the People's Republic, the European Union and the United States about China's geopolitical status. Meanwhile, Chinese authorities reported that the latest daily increase in COVID cases stood at 34,980, declining for the fourth day in a row.

The Shanghai Composite and the Hang Seng were flat at 3:14 am CET and at 3:29 am CET, respectively. The Shenzhen Composite Index gained 0.09% at 3:27 am CET.

The Nikkei 225 was down 1.09% at 3:30 am CET. The dollar lost 0.10% compared to the Japanese yen concurrently, changing hands for 135.1855. The Kospi decreased by 1.06% at 3:31 am CET. The S&P/ASX 200 fell by 0.75% at the same time.
