Asia trades mixed with eyes on Biden's SOTU

Stocks in Asia-Pacific traded mixed on Wednesday as investors listened to United States President Joe Biden's State of the Union address. Biden is set to speak about bipartisanship and tout the progress made during his time in office. He will place focus on the end of the coronavirus pandemic and the number of jobs created by his administration, according to excerpts from the president's prepared remarks, released by the White House.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite stood flat at 3:10 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite down by 0.19% a minute later. South Korea's Kospi increased by 1.12% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell by 0.37% at 3:12 am CET. Japan's Nikkei 225 lost 0.62% at 3:12 am CET and the dollar traded 0.16% higher against the yen, going for 131.2825 at 3:13 am CET. The Australian S&P/ASX 200 was up by 0.12% at 3:12 am CET.
